Should Washington State Courts Adopt the Federal Rules?

Washington State Bar Association President (outgoing) Stan Bastian promotes a reformulation of the State civil rules to more closely resemble federal court rules.  Will this bring more efficiency to the process, or may it rather shift power from the litigants to the Court, thus allowing the Court to process more cases, but permitting the litigants less control over the process?  Are cases taking too long to complete?
